PROFILEDepartment of Mechanical Engineering was established in 1964 on November 27th following the establishment of Faculty of Engineering on July 17th in the same year. It was originally located at Salemba Campus
- Center of Jakarta until 1987 when it then moved to New Campus, in Depok. 

Department of Mechanical Engineering currently running and offering two Bachelor Degree programs or may also called study program : Mechanical Engineering and Naval Architecture. The Naval Architecture program concentrates the education in Ship Production Technology and Management, Maintenance, and Port Management.

By putting academic and management quality as the basis for running the education system and organization, the Department is ISO 9001:2000 certified since August 2007 and succeeded to obtain the highest accreditation award – grade A (Excellent)-from National Accreditation Board – Ministry of National Education.

DESKRIPSIEntering the globalization era with highly competitive challenges to deal with, Department of Mechanical Engineering states clearly in its vision, mission and goals line with those of University of Indonesia to be an international class institution and excellence. 

The Department’s vision is to be the center for excellent research and educational service in mechanical engineering fields. Meanwhile, the Department holds the mission to conduct research and research based education to contribute to the development of science and technology in the fields of mechanical engineering, and also to conduct research and education which promote their application to increase the level and quality of society and human life.
TUJUANConsidering the national education objectives, the Mechanical Engineering Department has set the goals for Naval Architecture Program and each main activity to be the guide to related academic activities. In education activity, the goal is to cultivate graduates who have intellectual integrity, have an integrated, logic and systematic way of thinking based on technical knowledge to analyze and sythesize marine system characteristics, to design and plan marine devices and systems, to manage marine production facilities, and also capable to analyse and to solve problem scientifically, to engage in a teamwork cooperatively, and to improve their knowledges and personality. 

In research activity, the Department intends to make contribution and play an important role in the development of science and technology in mechanical engineering fields as well as to provide continual enhancements for educational process. Meanwhile, in community service activitiy, the Department wants to share its thoughts and to directly get involved in improving the quality of society and industry.
INFORMASI LAINProfound in its reputation, the graduates easily put in their knowledge and garner charming careers in variety of work fields, such as ship standardization company, ship design and manufacturing industries, oil & gas company, ship design consultant, construction services, education services, research institutes and others.

PERATURANTo obtain a Bachelor degree, a student is obliged to take and pass at least 144 credits, which consists of 12 credits of general university courses (liberal art courses), 30 credits general faculty courses (engineering supporting courses), 51 credits basic naval engineering courses (the main courses), 21 credits in-depth majoring courses (the courses for emphasizing mechanical engineering field), 20 credits elective courses of mechanical engineering specialisation, and 12 credits for ship design assigment, on-the-job training, and final project.

2. Passed one of the following Univ. entrance test : the Seleksi Masuk UI (SIMAK) UI, Program Prestasi dan Pemerataan Kesempatan Belajar (PPKB), PPSTD (Program Pendidikan Sarjana Teknik Daerah) or Seleksi Nasional Masuk Perguruan Tinggi Negeri (SNMPTN)
3. Good physical and mental health;
4. Has no full color blindness;

2. PERSYARATAN PROGRAMPassed the entrance examination for Vokasi, S1 Reguler, Paralel & KKI, which is scheduled on 11 April 2010 (for 2010/2011 academic year) as follows:
07:00-07:30 = Persiapan 
07:30-09.30 = Kemampuan IPA (120 menit) 
10:30-12:30 = Kemampuan Dasar (120 menit) 
12:30-13:30 = Istirahat 
13:30-15:00 = Kemampuan IPS (90 menit) 


Test subjects:
1. Kemampuan IPA (Mat IPA, Fis, Kim, Bio, IPA Terpadu @ 15 soal)
2. Kemampuan Dasar (MatDas, Bhs Ina, Bhs Ing @ 20 soal) 
3. Kemampuan IPS (Eko, Sej, Geo @ 20 soal, IPS Terpadu 15 soal)

KOMPETENSI LULUSANThe bachelor degree study program in mechanical engineering is to prepare the graduates who :
1. have integrated, logic and systematic ways of thinking
2. capable to analyze and synthesize the characteristics of naval engineering system
3. capable to design and plan ship system and equipment
4. capable to manage a production installation
5. capable to analyze and solve problems scientifically
6. have the skill to work cooperatively in a team and capability to learning to learn & life-long learning to improve their knowledges and personality
